A building envelope, as the name suggests, is a barrier that separates the interiors of a building from the external environment. The five main elements that constitute a building envelope are the foundations, exterior walls, roof, windows, and doors. They together protect the building like a layer of skin and cover it from top to bottom to control and prevent the infiltration of climatic elements such as air, water, heat, cold, wind, and light. A building envelope is developed to protect your structure from weathering and deterioration.

Tapes are used to seal flat roofs, windows, doors, and other aspects of the envelope that have more direct exposure to environmental stressors. Their UV-, water-, and thermal-resistant design allows for strong bonding and attachment. They act as barriers, preventing moisture and sunlight and protecting structures even under extreme conditions.

All the elements of a building envelope must interact with each other in a meaningful and interconnected manner. Each part of the system must act integrally with all others as a total system for complete effectiveness as a weather-tight building envelope.
